Zara (Scimitar X Good Queen Liz) was purchased from breeder Steuart Pittman in the Fall of 2009, having completed two novice level events. Tracey worked with the stunning, challenging chestnut mare through the Summer at Dodon Farm, and was smitten with her incredible potential and intelligence. Zara and Tracey have worked very hard through some dressage struggles, as Zara is quite an opinionated and nervous mount in the letters. She excels in cross country, where her athleticism, confidence, boldness and incredible scope make the jumps very doable. Zara completed one season at the training level in her first year with Tracey, moving up to preliminary by that Fall at Waredaca. She completed Waredaca and Rubicon at preliminary before the Winter, and returned to preliminary in February at Paradise and Sporting Days. It was clear that the mare was ready, and after a combined test at Morven Park in the Spring, the pair moved to intermediate. For the Spring and Summer, Tracey and Zara conquered intermediate level cross country courses all around area 2, as well as successfully completing the Virginia CCI*. By the Fall, they gave Fairhill International a try as our first two star competition and had great success placing 25th overall and 1st as an adult amateur. Through the Winter, Tracey worked with Sally Cousins to improve our skills and successfully moved up to the advanced level. This year Tracey and Zara will be back in action at the advanced level, with several 3* events under their belt already this season.
