2007 13.3 Norwegian Fjord Gelding
Owned by Darby Hewes
OFI Skogen is a very special Fjord, owned by a family with great passion for the breed. Although his family is most involved with driving, Skogen showed a unique combination of elegance and character in training, so instead of training to drive he learned about riding. He also was a bit too spooky and silly to be very safe to drive as a youngster. Skogen is small in stature but has the mind and the balance to be competitive in the USDF arenas. He has earned top honors for his breed in the discipline for several years not competing, moving through the levels with good scores and plenty of ribbons.
Skogen is currently competing and winning at second level in USDF recognized shows, and has also earned top honors in his breed inspections. He is a very versatile horse, and even completed a few events as his program demanded a little variety. In Aiken, South Carolina this year he completed his first beginner novice event, finishing in second place out of quite a few competitors!
Although he is currently in training and showing with Tracey, Skogen is also ridden in lesson by his owner, Darby. She and Skogen hope to some day show together at the training level in dressage.
